The htrA (degP) gene of Listeria monocytogenes 10403S is essential for optimal growth under stress conditions.
This report describes a mutant of Listeria monocytogenes strain 10403S (serotype 1/2a) with a defective response to conditions of high osmolarity, an environment that L. monocytogenes encounters in some ready-to-eat foods. A library of L. monocytogenes clones mutagenized with Tn917 was generated and scored for sensitivity to 4% NaCl in order to identify genes responsible for growth or survival ...
متن کاملDETERMINATION OF DOMINANT SEROVARS OF LISTERIA MONOCYTOGENES
Serovars of Lisreria l1Iollocyrogelles were determined. Sera of aborted samples (200) were collected from different hospitals in Tehran and were tested serologically by immunofluorescent antibody methods (IF tests). 137 positive sera were identified. Positive sera were tested against 12 serovars of Listeria l1Iollocytogelles separately. Titers of antibody in patients' sera for all serovars ...
متن کاملListeria monocytogenes 10403S HtrA is necessary for resistance to cellular stress and virulence.
The HtrA serine protease has been shown to be essential for bacterial virulence and for survival after exposure to many types of environmental and cellular stresses. A Listeria monocytogenes 10403S htrA mutant was found to be sensitive to oxidative and puromycin-induced stress at high temperatures, showed a reduced ability to form biofilms, and was attenuated for virulence in mice.
متن کاملRole for HtrA in stress induction and virulence potential in Listeria monocytogenes.
In silico analysis of the Listeria monocytogenes genome revealed lmo0292, a gene predicted to encode a HtrA-like serine protease. A stable insertion mutant was constructed, revealing a requirement for htrA in the listerial response to heat, acid, and penicillin stress. Transcriptional analysis revealed that htrA is not induced in response to heat shock but is induced in response to low pH and p...
متن کاملEpidemiological burden of Listeria monocytogenes in Iran
Objective(s): Listeria monocytogenes is a foodborne pathogenic bacteria causing the infection listeriosis, which possibly affects all people, particularly immunocompromised persons and pregnant women. This microorganism can be found in several processed foods, dairy products, raw milk, meat and fish products, seafoods, eggs, fruits, and vegetables. This review discusses about the epidemiologica...
